Art 360 on the Green with Wells Civic Society

The first public art event on the Cathedral Green held on Saturday was a great success with over 50 entries to the competition and many more joining in just for fun. All ages and abilities were there, from baby Morgan at 10 months to veteran of Wells Civic Society Patrick Brown at 92.

The sunshine and the Bank Holiday weekend brought many visitors to the Green and Chair of the Civic Society, Chris Winter, together with Clare Blackmore and Hilary Water who organised the event, were delighted with the results.

Chris said: “We are very grateful to the Dean of Wells Cathedral, the A2 Gallery, the Armandine Gallery and D H James who all supported the event, and to Ruth Ames-White, Chris Lee and Nick Jepson-Biddle who judged the entries.

“We were very pleased too with the variety of materials used and different views depicted from the Green. We will be putting up an exhibition of the winning pieces in the South Cloister of the Cathedral which will be open to the public from 4 th – 11 th September.”
