A couple of forthcoming events runs by CPRE London with national relevance to the civic movement: –
CPRE has a vision which includes streets that are not full of cars, but home to trees and green space to mitigate the effects of the changing climate. And there’s infrastructure to encourage people to walk, cycle/wheel and use public transport instead of driving.
At their free Greener Streets webinar on Thursday 26th June, they will address exactly how this can be done. Speakers from London Living Streets, Wheels for Wellbeing, climate charity Possible and CPRE London will discuss the challenge of residential street design for the 21st Century.
While there are many improvements still to be made, there is great work being done. What’s happening across London boroughs is monitored by the Healthy Streets Scorecard. CPRE London collect and publish data every year on 20mph speed limits, LTNs, protected cycle lanes, controlled parking, bus lanes and bus priority, and school streets and ‘STARS’.
The 2025 scorecard is about to be launched. And you can find out which borough has done most to deliver healthy streets this year at the Healthy Streets Scorecard webinar on Tuesday 8th July. They will also celebrate impressive action all around London.
