Civic Voice Trustees Robert Osborne and Martin Hamilton attended the 10th anniversary celebrations for Historic England at the House of Lords on Monday 31st March 2025.
Historic England is the government body that helps people care for, enjoy and celebrate England’s spectacular historic environment. It was established in 2015 after the former English Heritage was split between charitable and government functions, and is the UK government’s statutory adviser and a statutory consultee on all aspects of the historic environment and its heritage assets.
Martin Hamilton said: ‘It was a pleasure to attend the 10th anniversary celebrations of Historic England in the House of Lords. Many of our members will have engaged with Historic England to celebrate the built and cultural history of their villages, towns and cities.’
‘In 2024 Civic Voice recently surveyed 200 organisations across the country who run plaques schemes to coincide with the launch of the Historic England national blue plaques scheme. We recently followed this up with a series of round table events in partnership with Historic England to learn more about local schemes. The plan is to convert these learnings into a how to guide later this year.’
