Civic Voice is in discussions with new social enterprise Local History Hub, a national initiative supporting schools and communities to connect with local heritage.
Through engaging, curriculum-aligned resources and creative project ideas, the Hub helps teachers bring history to life in the classroom while encouraging young people to explore the stories of the places they live. Their work is rooted in the belief that local history strengthens a sense of identity and belonging, and so they are looking to work with like-minded organisations to build a movement that puts place and people at the heart of learning.
Rob Hattersley, Civic Voice CEO, and Matthew Harper-Duffy, Founder and Director of Local History Hub said: “Our shared values around place, heritage, and community will be at the heart of this collaboration. Together, we are exploring ways to connect schools and communities more meaningfully through local history and civic engagement.”
“This potential partnership reflects our joint commitment to strengthening the ties between education and society, helping people of all ages feel more connected to the places they live. We’re excited about what lies ahead and look forward to seeing where this partnership can lead.“
Rob added: “The new strategy we are developing at Civic Voice must have engaging young people with their local places as a top priority. I’m delighted to learn about Local History Hub, inspired by Matthew’s vision, and am looking forward to exploring opportunities for civic societies to be involved.”
