Changes at Civic Voice

The Civic Voice Board has announced the resignation of its Chief Executive, Rob Hattersley, from early November.

Co Chair Robert Osborne said: “Since February 2025, Rob has done a tremendous of amount of work in resolving many basic financial and administrative issues that were left over from the past. We wish to record our thanks to Rob for his work.”

Robert added: “In particular, as a result of Rob’s efforts, the Board now has a clearer, data informed and realistic view of financial projections, of income and costs. Unfortunately, these financial projections reveal that income to Civic Voice is unlikely to support the employment of a new full-time Chief Executive in the immediate future.”

In an email to members welcoming their views, the board has outlined plans to explore other possibilities for raising funds as well as whether there are any benefits in working with other national organisations.

Co Chair Andrew Jackson commented: “The direction of government policy makes the existence of an active civic movement more important than ever.  Within our limited resources, the Board intends to fulfil the core function of representation, of ‘voice’. We intend for example to respond to key government proposals and to campaign on key issues such as the concealment of online public comments.”

More information will be made available in due course. Members are being informed shortly about arrangements for what will now be an in person Annual General Meeting in Birmingham on Saturday 8th November, at which future options for the charity will be discussed.
